About Me

Hi, I'm Maggie Nixon, a passionate maths tutor with over 8 years of experience specialising in one-to-one guidance for KS3, GCSE, and A-Level. I hold a First-Class Honours degree in Mathematics, which included in-depth modules focusing on education.

In 2015, I decided to pursue my love for maths by working part-time as a tutor, while completing my degree with the Open University. It was during this time that I discovered my knack for helping students not only understand maths but also grow in confidence and excel in exams.

I approach tutoring with friendliness and enthusiasm, creating a supportive environment where young people can thrive. I genuinely enjoy seeing my students develop their skills and overcome challenges, especially when it comes to building confidence with maths.

Outside of tutoring, I'm a proud mother of two dyslexic daughters in their mid-20s. Their unique learning experiences have deepened my understanding of the diverse ways individuals approach education and inspired me to tailor my teaching methods to meet the specific needs of each student.

In my free time, I love to travel, and go on long country walks, and I'm currently learning to play golf. In addition to this, every few years I enjoy taking on a new charity challenge, some of which have included: cycling to Paris, a four-day trek in the Sahara Desert, a five-day trek in the Himalayas and a half marathon walk in London. I get great satisfaction from achieving new goals and I channel this enthusiasm into helping my students with their learning objectives.
